West Indies cricket team is currently touring India and their schedule started in September and will end in next November 2018. Board of Control for Cricket in India or BCCI has arranged a home tournament and invited West Indies. The purpose is to play a Test, an ODI, and a T20I series. This two teams will play above listed competitions against each other. Ahead of their schedule, visiting team West Indies also played a two days warm-up match against Indian Board President’s XI. And the match ended with draw. The warm-up match started on 29th September 2018. However, in 4th October 2018, the first test between India and West Indies started. India won 1st Test against West Indies by an innings and 272 runs.
The competition between two teams started with long format cricket where the Test series consisted of two matches. By winning the first match, India already secured the Test series. They have no fear to lose the series but highest West Indies can draw the Test series by winning 2nd Tes.
In 4th October, 2018 the first match between them started and the hist ground was Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot. India won the toss and decided to bat first. Virat Kohli led the team India where Due to the injury of Jason Holder, Kraigg Brathwaite led the team in the first Test. Prithvi Shaw for India and Sherman Lewis for West Indies made their Test debut through the match.
The opening of India was not so good. In just 3 runs, opener KL Rahul was gone. But as the newborn player, Shaw made his debut match century. He scored 134 runs there. In 2nd wicket partnership between Shaw and Pujara, they added more than 200 runs. Pujara was gone with 86 runs.
Later, Kohli came and made a century as well. He scored 139 runs highest for the team India. Besides, Rahane scored 41 runs, Pant scored 92 runs and Jadeja made his first century in the innings.
He scored 100 runs and remained not out. By losing nine wickets team India added 649 runs in the first innings. They played total 149.5 overs in their first innings. Bisho took four wickets where Lewis took two wickets for the West Indies team.
Later, team West Indies came to bat for the first innings. Basically, the first innings score of India was quite big and for the West Indies, it was almost impossible to chase considering their current performance.
They just played 48 overs in the first innings and lost all wickets. They scored 181 runs where Roston Chase scored 53 runs highest. So, by facing follow-on, team Windies came to bat for the 2nd innings. Once again, they failed to chase the score. Scoring 196 runs in 50.5 overs they lost all wickets. Powell scored highest 83 runs there.
