Sydney Sixers smashed in BBL over Thunder

One time Big Bash League champion Sydney Sixers  started their sixth season  by smashed in BBL over Thunder. Sixers has presented them as one of the main contender of the title again. But, unfortunately they could not keep their winning streak but lost their second match against Hurricanes.

However, excluding their last match, they played total four matches in this ongoing T20 competition where got victory in two of them. By defeating their last match against Adelaide Strikers, they were in pressure but yesterday they beat Brisbane Heat and come to the spotlight again.It was the 15th match of this BBL 2016/17 tournament which was staged at the home venue of Brisbane Heat.

In third January, 2017 at Brisbane Cricket Ground ground, Brisbane Heat faced Sydney Sixers which was the night competition. Sixers won the toss and decided to field first. This was the third match of fourth round. So, the match was high voltage.

Since the beginning of the match, Brisbane started to dominate the Sixers bowlers and their two openers Peirson and McCullum made 73 runs partnership which led the team to a big score. McCullum got out with his 30 runs. Between 73 to 100 runs, Brisbane lost their first four wickets and fallen into a little pressure.

Later, Burns and Cutting tried to stand where Burns was succeeded. He scored highest 51 runs for the team. By playing complete 20 overs, Heat lost six wickets and scored 186 runs.

To chase 186 runs was quite difficult for the Sixers in short form of Cricket but the ground was much faster that day. Though, it was their opponent’s home ground but almost the same nature. So, they started to bat but lost Roy in 3rd over. Roy was one of the best T20 experts player in the team as well as in the tournament and his loss was about to suffer them.

But, Hughes took the lead and led their team to the destination. They started to lose wickets gradually but Hughes was remained at the crease. He played almost to the last but could not finish the game. When the team run was 184, then Hughes was out by Cutting. He scored highest 85 runs in 55 balls with seven boundaries and four over boundaries. So, the Sixers won by three wickets at last.
