Caribbean Premier League which is simply known as CPL or CPL T20 and it is an annual professional T20 league cricket competition in the World based on the Caribbean. The tournament Caribbean Premier League was started their journey in 2013 and since the beginning, the tournament used to be organised by Cricket West Indies (CWI). In the season of 2013 when CPL started their journey or it can be said the first episode of CPL took place back then, Guyana Amazon Warriors and Jamaica Tallawahs made it to the final of the tournament. It was the first final and these two teams were the first finalists. The match took place on 24th August 2013 at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. It was a day/ night competition where Jamaica Tallawahs won the toss and decided to bowl first.

So, Guyana Amazon Warriors came to bat first. Though they played complete 20 overs they failed to present a big score in front of Jamaica. They just scored 128 runs in exchange for five wickets. Lendl Simmons scored highest 40 runs for Warriors. For Jamaica, David took the highest two wickets so far.

Later, Jamaica Tallawahs came to chase the score and in 17.3 overs they reached the destination. They lost three wickets and scored 129 runs so far. Chris Gayle was their top scorer who led the team to the victory. he remained unbeaten with 47 runs so far. However, he was announced as the player of the match later. So, the very first title was captured by Jamaica Tallawahs.

The 2nd episode of the Caribbean Premier League took place in the following next year and this time once again Guyana Amazon Warriors made it to the final. But the opponent finalist was changed. It was Barbados Tridents. In 16th August 2014, the final match took place at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts. There, Guyana Amazon Warriors won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Barbados Tridents came to bat at the beginning. Smith and Perkings came to open the innings for the Tridents. In 5 runs, Perkins was gone before scoring run account. Holder also failed to open his account. But Smith scored 59 runs highest and their overseas player Shoaib Malik scored 55 runs so far. Based on their score, Barbados Tridents scored 152 runs in exchange for six wickets.

Later, Simmons and Guptill started to chase the score but the chasing team was affected rain while chasing the score. By playing 15.,5 overs team Guyana Amazon Warriors scored 107 runs by losing four wickets. But due to rain, applying D/L method Barbados Tridents was declared as the winning team there. But the opponent player Lendl Simmons was announced as the player of the series there. So, the 2nd title of CPL was won by Barbados Tridents so far.

Red Steel beat Barbados Tridents by 20 runs in 2015 Hero CPL final

However, the defending champion team Barbados Tridents played final in the following next year 2015 and once again the opponent finalist was changed. For the first time, Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel played the final in Caribbean Premier League. It was the 3rd season of CPL and already CPL saw two different winners. Now, they were going to see the 3rd winner of the tournament.

Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel was a franchise team in CPL and later, the franchise changed the name and now, it is known as Trinbago Knight Riders. In 26th July 2015, the final between Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Tridents took place and the home venue was Queens Park Oval, Port Of Spain, Trinidad And Tobago.

In the match, Knight Riders won the toss and decided to bat first. So, Kallis and Delport opened the innings for Riders. In 18 runs Kallis was gone but at the end of the crease, Delport played well. He scored 50 runs and Kamran Akmal scored 60 runs so far. Captain on the team Bravo scored 29 runs so far. In 20 overs team Riders scored 178 runs in exchange for five wickets so far. Rayad Emrit took three wickets for Tridents.

However, on the other side, Smith and Taylor came to chase the score. They also started quite well and in 47 runs, their partnership was broken. Smith scored 49 runs and Taylor scored 20 runs so far. Besides, Corbin scored 20 runs, Misbah scored 21 runs, Pollard and Holder scored 20 runs each for the team. By losing four wickets team Tridents scored 158 runs so far. So, the 3rd title of CPL was taken by Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel.

2nd CPL title of Jamaica Tallawahs

In the 4th season of Caribbean Premier League, two new teams which played the very first season of CPL final Jamaica Tallawahs and Guyana Amazon Warriors made it to the final It took place in 7th August 2016 and the host ground was Warner Park, Basseterre, Saint Kitts. It was the 2nd time final of Jamaica Tallawahs and 3rd final of Guyana Amazon Warriors.

However, in the final match of 2016 CPL, Jamaica Tallawahs won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, Guyana Amazon Warriors came to bat at the beginning. Smith and Maddinson opened the innings for Warriors. In 1 run, Maddinson was gone. He scored 0 runs so far. Smith scored 17 runs but the highest scorer was Sohail Tanvir. He scored 42 runs so far. Basically, team Warriors faced batting collapsed there and getting all out scoring 93 runs so far. Imad Wasim took three wickets and Shakib Al Hasan took two wickets for Jamaica Tallawahs so far.

Later, Jamaica Tallawahs came to chase the score and Gayle and Walton opened the innings for the chasing team. Walton scored 25 runs but Gayle played quite destructively and scored 54 runs in 27 balls. Finally, Walton and Sangakkara led the team to victory. It was the 2nd CPL title of Jamaica Tallawahs. Andre Russell of Jamaica Tallawahs was announced as the player of the series.

Trinbago Knight Riders win 2017 CPL Final

Trinbago Knight Riders played final of CPL for the 2nd time in the season of 2017. This time a new team made it to the final as well. The opponent team was St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The final match took place in 9th September 2017 and the host venue was Brian Lara Stadium, San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago.

Trinbago Knight Riders won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, the opposing team came to bat and their two openers were Chris Gayle and Lewis. In 1 run, Gayle was gone and in 11 runs, 2nd wicket Mohammad Hafeez was gone as well. Most of the players got runs but not that significantly big. In 20 overs team, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots scored 135 runs in exchange for six wickets so far. Cooper and Searles took two wickets for the team Riders.

In return, Trinbago Knight Riders came to chase the score. The score was not so big to chase in 20 overs. In 11 runs opening partnership was broken. They also played not good but a couple of players got runs there. Munro scored 29 runs, Hamza scored 18 runs, Ramdin scored 26 runs and Cooper remained not out with 29 runs so far. Cooper and Ramdin led the team to victory in 19 overs so far. It was the 2nd title of Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL.

Trinbago Knight Riders Beats Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL 2018 Finals and Lifts Trophy

The last season of Caribbean Premier League took place in 2018 and this time, Treinbago Knight Riders made it to the final for the 3rd time and for the 3rd time as well, they took the CPL title. However, the unfortunate fact was for Guyana Amazon Warriors which franchise team played final for the 4th times but yet to touch any single title of CPL so far. It was the 6th season of Caribbean Premier League and the final match of the tournament took place in 16th September 2018 and the host ground was Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba.

Trinbago Knight Riders won the toss and decided to bowl first. So, four times finalists came to bat at the beginning. Delport and Ronchi started to bat for Warriors. Delport failed to open the run account and Ronchi scored 44 runs so far. Rest players added few more runs there where Hetmyer scored 15 runs and Mohammed scored 24 runs so far. At the end of 20 overs, team Warriors scored 147 runs in exchange for nine wickets. Pierre took three wickets for Knight Riders so far.

Ramdin and McCullum started to chase for Knight Riders. Ramdin scored 24 runs and McCullum added 39 runs for the team. Munro led the team to victory and added 68 runs highest so far. In 17.3 overs team, Trinbago Knight Riders reached the destination. They just lost two wickets and won by eight wickets so far.
