Adelaide Strikers is one of the most successful franchise participants in the 7th season of Big Bash League tournament though excluding this time, they did not make any Big Bash final. They played semi final twice times earlier but it was their first time to play final of this such big T20 league competition.
However, in the Big Bash final they faced an opponent which was worthy enough to defeat them. Considering the group stage match, Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes faced against each other twice times so far where both of them managed a victory each.
But in the Big Bash final, Adelaide Strikers showed their true color and won the title. So, it should be called Adelaide Strikers managed BBL title for 1st time by playing whole seven seasons of Big Bash League or BBL.
Now, if we consider the performance of Hobart Hurricanes in the season of Big Bash, they played bravely it seems. They also deserved to win the title though they failed to do that. They reached final by beating the most successful BBL team named Perth Scorchers in semi final and they also did that dominantly.
In semi final, they did not give any chance to Scorchers and so, they ensured their entrance at the final for the first time in BBL history as well. But finally it was not their to tell. They failed to write their own history.
In group stage of BBL, they played ten matches according to the schedule like all the other participants and they were the last team that confirmed their ticket of knockout round. On the other side, Adelaide Strikers was in great form since the beginning of the season of Big Bash and they were ranked on the 2nd position on the point table and finally grabbed the title.
The amazing Big Bash final match between Strikers and Hurricanes was placed in 4th February, 2018 and it was the home venue of Strikers where the match was hosted named Adelaide Oval. Before the match, Strikers won the toss and selected to bat first instead of bowl. Most of the toss winning teams in the season of BBL used to take bowl first but Strikers changed the decision like the last match.
So, their decision was correct which was proved later. They presented in front of Hurricanes a big score that was almost impossible to chase. They scored 202 runs in 20 ovals. They just lost two wickets where their opener Weatherald scored a century. Based on his score, Strikers made the big score.
On the other side, Hobart Hurricanes failed to reach the destination but finished their innings scoring 177 runs. Their player D’Arcy Short scored 68 runs in 44 balls as well.
