South Africa confirmed their ticket in WorldCup 2019 and the series against Zimbabwe will be their preparation for the upcoming biggest tournament. They started the tour with ODI series which consisted of three matches. South Africa whitewashed Zimbabwe and now, they are playing the T20I series which consists of three matches as well. Imran Tahir destroyed Zimbabwe team in 1st T20I.
Hamilton Masakadza is the current skipper of Zimbabwe cricket team and under his leading team, Zimbabwe is visiting South Africa. The purpose of their visiting is to play a dual series between South Africa and Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe ruled out from the ODI ranking and now, behind the place of first ten positions so far. So, they cannot take part in the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.
The T20I series started with the 1st match on 9th October 2018 and the host venue was the Buffalo Park, East London. Two Proteas players Gihahn Cloete and Rassie van der Dussen made their T20I debut through the match against Zimbabwe. In the match, South Africa won the toss and decided to bat first.
De Kock and Cloete started the innings for South Africa. In 3 runs, opener Cloete was gone. He scored just 2 runs so far. Just 8 runs later, De Kock also returned to the dressing room as well. He scored 5 runs so far. The partnership between Du Plessis and Der Dussen made few runs where in 52 team runs, Du Plessis was gone. He scored 34 runs so far.
New player Dussen played well and added highest 56 runs there. Besides, Miller also added 39 runs for the team. Rest players could not touch two figure runs. They played full 20 overs and in exchange for 6 wickets team, South Africa scored 160 runs so far. Zimbabwe bowlers were not too expensive but Jarvis took three wickets and Mpofu took two wickets in the match.
Chibhabha and captain Masakadza started the innings for Zimbabwe. They basically started to chase the score which was presented by South Africa. In 6 runs Chibhabha was gone. Just 5 runs later, the captain followed the same way.
Taylor played a little bit and added 19 runs. Just a couple of players added few runs where Williams scored 21 runs, Moor scored 44 runs and Mavuta scored 28 runs so far. In 17.2 overs team Zimbabwe lost all wickets and scored 126 runs. The main role was played by Proteas spinner Imran Tahir. He took five wickets and destroyed the opponent innings.
Finally, the Proteas bowler was announced as the player of the match. The 2nd T20I will take place on 12th October, 2018 at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom.
